Every dollar you give will eliminate $100 of medical debt for some of the neediest people in our communities. All gifts must be received by April 17, 2020.

 Here are the facts that describe the medical debt crisis in the United States:

• 43 million Americans owe $75 billion in past due medical debt.
• More than 60% of all bankruptcies include medical debt.
• 75% of individuals in medical bankruptcy have health insurance.

Medical debt is an economic justice issue. It causes people to cut back on other necessities, lose needed medical services, and sink into a poverty trap. Together with the other 600 churches across the new Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ, the First Congregational Church of Danbury is fighting this injustice.
