Music Ministry: Last Minute Changes
Thanks, plans, and dates to save.
(Posted May 28, 2015)
Just when you think things are going well…surprise! Well this past Sunday I had an unusual experience with the choir. It turned out that four women were out – two unexpectedly, making voicing the anthem a bit challenging. I had two altos sing the soprano part, and two tenors singing the alto part, I had to sing the baritone instead of direct, hoping that the spirit of the Lord would be with our choir throughout the singing of “Filla Me Up with the Holy Spirit.” After all those changes, I hope that the message was not compromised.
I cannot thank Todd Moriarty enough for his very moving anthem this past Sunday, which was so very well received by our congregation. Only once before during my time as director of Music, do I remember a Prelude receiving an enthusiastic applause by the congregation.
Pat Moriarty will meet with the church school children during the service this Sunday and next. They will be singing during the service on Sunday, June 14th.
Mark your calendars as there is a change of date for our next Jazz Sunday. It will be held June 7th. This will be their last Sunday with us until September. We thank Doug and Ginny Hartline for their special arrangements of Preludes, anthems and Postludes.
Peace through Music,
Jim Moriarty
