Music Ministry: Preparing for Easter
Celebrating Christ’s resurrection by singing a few of the greatest compositions ever written.
More information about 2019 Lenten and Easter services are available here.
(March 1, 2015) I first want to thank Cheryl Hill who substituted for the choir this past Sunday. The roads were not good, several members couldn’t make it, so I felt it best to cancel choir altogether. The handful of those in attendance heard Cheryl sing two beautiful spirituals.
I have listened to Doug Hartline’s latest CD, and it is terrific. His arrangements of the hymns are even better than the wonderful ones we’ve heard here at First Church. The addition of other instruments woven with his own guitar style should make this a favorite to those who have enjoyed his playing here. I’ll have them available after church this Sunday for $10. The next Jazz Sunday is scheduled for March 22nd.
With Easter fast approaching, I love to have our church school children participate in an anthem with the adult choir at the Easter Service. But, I need to know how many families are planning to be here for that Service. Please let Cindy, Patricia, or myself know ASAP so Pat Moriarty can begin practicing with the children.
The choir is scheduled to sing March 8th, 15th, and 29th, and April 2nd. A rehearsal is scheduled for next Thursday, March 5th. Dinner is at 6:15, and rehearsal will be at 7pm, both in Annie Hall. I invite all present and past choir members to join in celebrating Christ’s Resurrection by singing a few of the greatest compositions ever written.
Peace through music, (I am leaving out the words “…and warmth” – I’ve given up!)
