From Dr. Jane Ellingwood: A focus on "grace and..."

Grace is accompanied by so many other gifts of God.

(Posted August 4, 2017)

On the first three Sundays of August, Dr. Jane Ellingwood will offer a sermon series on the 21st century relevance of theological themes from the early Protestant Reformation period.  This sermon series is in commemoration of the start of the Protestant Reformations 500 years ago, which is dated to October 31, 1517 when Martin Luther published his “95 Theses.”

The sermon for this Sunday, August 6, will be based on the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), and the focus will be on “grace and …” other aspects of God’s love, including deep, compassionate mercy, steadfast love and faithfulness, and radical forgiveness and welcome.  These are aspects of God’s love and relationships with us that we, as human beings, also can offer to others, in our own human ways.  And we can reflect on what it means for us that God’s grace is accompanied by so many other gifts of God. -- Dr. Jane Ellingwood
