Donations of Quilting Supplies Needed

Help revive an art form at the La Plant reservation.
(March 6, 2015) Did you know that quilting is a well established art form among Native American peoples?  On the reservation in La Plant, South Dakota, a small group of ladies are interested in reviving the craft as a form of relaxation, creative expression and community building. They also want to teach others to quilt and perhaps develop their art as form of income.

When the First congregational Churches of Bethel and Naugatuck go out to the reservation in May, one the group members, Laura Westby, will help the ladies start a Quilting Club.  She wants to bring fabric and supplies to help the ladies get started.  Most crafters have a generous "stash" of fabrics, a collection of material that is useful but not yet assigned to a project.  Laura would like you to check your stash, and consider donating something to our friends in La Plant.  The following items are most welcome:
  • Fat quarters
  • Jelly rolls
  • Pieces of fabric of at least 1/2 yard
  • Bags of batting or pieces of at least one yard
Donations toward the cost of supplies -- like scissors, cutting mats, rulers and notions -- would also be much appreciated.  If possible, Laura will need the donations by March 25.  If you have any questions, you can contact her at fccbpastor@firstchurchbethel.org.  Thanks!
