March 2, 2015) I want to thank the choir for their hard work in preparing last Sunday’s anthem. I am still humming the chorus. The individual solos were initiated for affect and not part of the original composition.
Looking ahead to this Sunday (March 22), Doug Hartline and his backup musicians will be here for our monthly Jazz Sunday.
The choir is scheduled to sing “Hosannas” on Palm Sunday and “Hallelujahs” on Easter. In between those Sundays is Maundy Thursday (April 2). Although this is a very solemn service with very little music – two hymns, it is design to relive the Last Super. Extinguishing candles after each Bible reading until there is no light, is very moving and gives one the sense of what it may have been like to actually be sitting at the table with Jesus.
