Music Ministry: Variety of Musicians This Summer

Planning ahead for our music

(Posted June 18, 2015)

As I plan music for the next couple of months I am hoping to have a variety of musicians. I am trying to line up a piano/organ anthem, a classical guitarist, our traditional quartet for July 5th – Independence Day Service, our own Jazz Sunday on the 19th of July, a possible solo/duet by our choir members, and the return of Dr. Mary Larew, a very accomplished violinist. Plans are also  in the process to have a band – whose members are all Veterans - to play after the service at our picnic on the 12th of July. These are a few of the plans for June and July.

In looking ahead to August,  I will be away for a couple of Sundays. Howard and Cheryl will be here on the 10th of August. Our planned Poolside Service at the Jennings is August 31st. Nancy Wildman and hopefully Skip Jennings will lead us in hymns that day. Please let me know if you are interested in singing or playing as there are many available dates between now and the end of August.
I am also looking for individuals who play the flute or violin who would like the experience of playing along on anthems. This would only be a couple times during the year.  This could be an adult, a local high school or college student. Many of the new arrangements incorporate flute or violin in the arrangements and are not very difficult to play. They would be paid according to experience. So, please pass the word.
Peace of mind through music, Jim Moriarty
